Uršula Berlot (born in 1973)

Berlot was born on 10 October 1973 in Ljubljana. She attended Zmago Modic's private school of painting. From 1994 to 1998 she studied painting in the class of Prof Gustav Gnamuš at the Ljubljana Academy of Fine Arts. She graduated in 2000 and the following year received her master's degree from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts in Paris, where she studied under Prof Bernard Piffaretti. She is continuing her postgraduate studies at the Ljubljana Academy of Fine Arts, working on "Mimesis: An Infra-small Dimension between Art and Nature". Berlot defines herself as a painter of nature, of its elementary states and substances; she moves and fixates its physical phenomena with stabile materials (artificial resins on Plexiglas). The results are subtle, translucent paintings of ascetic colours, the effect of which is increased with special lighting.
