Sandi Červek (born in 1960)

Červek was born on 19 July 1960 in Murska Sobota. He began his study of painting at the Ljubljana Academy of Fine Arts in 1980-1981 and graduated from the class led by Prof. Gustav Gnamuš' in 1985. In 1998 he spent three months in New York on a grant from the Atelje project (the Republic of Slovenia and the Soros Foundation). He belongs to a generation that, after graduation from the Ljubljana academy, successfully introduced the new abstraction trends and Art Informel in Yugoslavia. It was in 1990 that he first he presented his black paintings that reflect light because of thin, finely structured layers of paint. His work consists of paintings and artistic decorations.
